According to CSO statistics
(1998), food and beverage manufacturing represents
approximately 50% of the total non-oil manufacturing
sector's contribution to the Gross Domestic Products
(GDP). As such, this industry is considered to be one of
the key sectors for developing occupational
standards.
The first Food and Beverage
ITO convened on December 15th 1999. Thereafter, meetings
have been held once per month. Members have already
constructed an occupational map of the sector and
identified the following areas for the development of
occupational standards:
- Process Operator
- Production
Supervisor
- Packaging Operators
- Machine Operators
- Maintenance
Technician
- Fillers
- Forklift Operators
Work has begun on the development
of occupational standards for process
operators.
