Can I Apply?

You can apply to the OJT Programme if you:

Are a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago.

Are between the ages of 16 and 35.

Posses at least three CXC passes.

Posses a Degree or a Postgraduate Certificate.

How do I Apply?

You must obtain and complete the OJT Trainee Application Form, which can be downloaded using the link below. Application forms can also be picked up from the STTE office, which is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, except public holidays.

Return your completed application form, together with the original and one copy of each of the following, to the office above:

  1. Proof of identification in the form of a valid Trinidad and Tobago Driver’s Permit, National ID Card, or Passport.
  2. Electronic Birth certificate with supporting affidavit, if necessary.
  3. Proof of all School / Academic Certificates.
  4. Two (2) Written Recomendations,SIX (6) MONTHS prior to date of application.
  5. ONE (1) Utility Bill to VERIFY ADDRESS (in name of occupier and/ or applicant).
  6. OJT Trainee Application Form.

Do I receive a salary during my training?

OJT Trainees receive a monthly stipend based on the highest level of educational qualification you have achieved:

 

TT$2000 per month, for persons who possess CXC O Levels.

TT$3000 per month, for persons who possess 2 CAPE or A Level passes, an Associate Degree or Technical Level Qualifications.

TT$5000 per month, for persons who possess an Undergraduate Degree.

TT$6000 per month for persons who possess a Postgraduate Degree.

Apprentices will be provided with work-based training opportunities through private and public-sector employers. In addition, they will be exposed to other benefits that are associated with being employed, including becoming more familiar with interpersonal relationships, networking, responsibilities and the importance of interdependence within the working environment.

 

Based on the work performance of each apprentice and the existence of vacancies within the employer's organisation, he or she may be offered a position on a more permanent basis. The OJT Programme will assist all those who successfully complete training to identify permanent job opportunities.

Are there any associated fees?

There is no application fee and training is provided free of charge.
