| Vision The delivery of standardised, quality Life Skills Curriculum for Personal Development and Employment Enhancement in all out-of-school programmes, with trained tutors and resources to enable the development of innovative, caring individuals with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to make life-sustaining choices that will result in healthy and productive lifestyles and demonstrate social action that will support their holistic development. Role and Functions The Life Skills Unit is the policy making body that provides guidance and on-going coordination and management of the Life Skills training in Trinidad and Tobago. It collaborates with stakeholders to develop and administer a cohesive and coherent approach to implement the National Life Skills Curriculum for Personal Development and Employability Enhancement Programme. With the Cabinet-appointed National Steering Committee, the Life Skills Unit provides effective mechanisms for the realization of the policy. The Life Skills Unit guides institutions in the effective delivery of their Life Skills Programmes using the standardized National Life Skills Curriculum for Personal Development and Employment Enhancement and other guidelines. It directs and guides pre-service and in-service training of the Life Skills tutors. It directs the dedicated staff conducting the expanded pilot of the implementation of the National Life Skills Curriculum for Personal Development and Employment Enhancement. In encouraging the creation of an enabling environment that will facilitate effective Life Skills development, training and delivery, it will involve planning and institutional strengthening to ensure quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the curriculum and the Life Skills database. |
