The National Training Agency is the umbrella agency for effecting reform in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Trinidad and Tobago

    Its role is to co-ordinate and regulate technical and vocational education and
   training, 
promoting and facilitating a coherent system of quality TVET. 

   The system is designated to satisfy the changing needs of industry as well as
   cater to the aspirations of individuals in pursuit of their career goals and 
   opportunities.

and Australia and are produced in collaboration with industry experts & professionals

Caribbean Vocational Qualification

The aim of the CVQ is the development of the Ideal Caribbean Worker. 

It is an award that represents the achievement of a set of competencies that define the core work practices of an occupational area consistent with the levels articulated within the regional qualification framework.

CANTA is the Caribbean Association of National Training Agencies

 

The need for the coordination and rationalization of TVET and the move to establish a Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME) including proposals for the free movement of CERTIFIED skilled labour, have prompted National Training Agencies (NTAs) in the region to exploit the benefits of joint and concerted efforts by establishing among themselves The Caribbean Association of National Training Agencies (CANTA).

NTATT facilitating Regional Developments in TVET

During the period 2009-2010, the National Training Agency of Trinidad and Tobago has been host to a number of regional study groups including visitors from St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and the Bahamas. Most recently, NTATT welcomed a delegation from the Stichting Arbeidsmobilisatie & Ontwikkeling (Foundation Labour Mobilization and Development, Suriname) for a work study programme from May 3rd-7th 2010. The objectives of their visit included obtaining technical assistance from NTATT in the area of managing technical and vocational training systems within training institutions and the development and adjustment of training programmes based on labour market projections.

During their visit the following areas of interest were explored:

  • NTATT’s systems and processes regarding the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ)
  • Tour of training providers
  • Social support through programmes such as Multi-Sector Skills Training (MuST) and the Retraining Programme
  • Organizational structure of NTATT in support of the reformation, rationalization and revitalization of our local TVET landscape


The delegation was comprised of Mr. Errol Pinas (Ag. Director), Mr. Orlando dos Ramos and Ms. Tanja Tevrededn of the SAO.
